ABOUT
We exist because of Adam — and because no family should face this alone.
In 2020, Adam McCauley was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer. The outpouring of support from his family, friends, and colleagues showed what community could do. When Adam passed in 2022, that same community channeled their love into a lasting mission: helping children who have lost a parent to cancer find stability, support, and hope for the future.
Established as a 501(c)(3) in 2021, AMFCF serves grieving families across the Houston area with financial assistance, mental health referrals, and the kind of practical help that makes a real difference.
STORIES OF IMPACT
RUTH & HER BOYS
Ruth is a single mom living in the Houston area, with her four boys; ages 5 to 15 yo. Ruth's husband was diagnosed with stomach cancer in November 2020.
The family desperately used all their savings to pay for medial bills, in hopes of a successful treatment, but sadly, her husband passed away five short months later.
How AMFCF Helped
Thanks to our generous donors, AMFCF has been able to bless Ruth's boys in multiple ways. The foundation provided Christmas gifts and a traditional Holiday meal. AMFCF provided weekly grocery deliveries, assisted with day care fees, and paid off the family's car.
"I am so grateful for your show of love towards my family.
What would we have done without you?"
— Ruth
STORIES OF IMPACT
ABIGAIL’S CREW
Abigail lost her husband in January 2024 to a Metastatic Germ Cell Tumor. He was just 27 years old — taken far too soon, within two weeks of being hospitalized. In an instant, Abigail found herself a young widow with four children, all under the age of six, facing a future she never anticipated having to build alone. In the depths of that grief, she demonstrated a quiet, remarkable strength — her focus turned not inward, but forward, toward the lives she was determined to give her children.
How AMFCF Helped
AMFCF was honored to walk alongside Abigail in those early, difficult months. At her request, the Foundation established college savings accounts for each of her four children — a meaningful first step toward the future she envisions for them. We also connected her with mental health resources to help her family navigate their grief, and provided assistance with her last testament and will, ensuring that no matter what lies ahead, her children are protected.
STORIES OF IMPACT
BRANDEE’S BOYS
In 2023, Brandee's world was upended twice over when both her youngest son & her husband were diagnosed with cancer. The family relocated to Houston to pursue treatment at MD Anderson Medical Center, spending nine months navigating the unimaginable — the illness of a child and a spouse at the same time.
Brandee's youngest son passed away at just four years old. In the wake of that loss, her husband continued showing up to work through chemotherapy, determined to protect the family's medical insurance for as long as he could. Three months after losing their son, he too passed away, leaving Brandee to carry forward for their two surviving boys.
How AMFCF Helped
There are no words adequate to the weight of what Brandee has endured. AMFCF was privileged to come alongside her family during this time — helping Brandee and her husband prepare their last testament and will before his passing, so that one painful uncertainty could be lifted from their shoulders. After his death, the Foundation established college savings accounts for her two sons, a small but intentional investment in the future Brandee is now working so hard to build for them.
