More than a legacy.
A purpose.
Adam McCauley lived with passion, led with integrity, and loved fiercely. His story is one of hard work, unwavering faith, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
This foundation was created to honor Adam's life and to carry forward his desire to help children and families facing cancer.
Adam's Story
Adam grew up in Houston, the third of four boys to Suzanne and Richard McCauley. He graduated from Stratford High School and then moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech University. He earned his BBA in Petroleum Land Management from the Rawls College of Business and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He worked for over fourteen years in the Oil and Gas Industry as a Landman, working for a variety of companies including Carrizo Oil & Gas and lastly EOG Resources. Throughout his career, he was an active member for the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL), the Houston Association of Professional Landmen (HAPL), and the Dallas Association of Petroleum Landmen (DAPL).
He met his wife Meredith in 2010 through mutual friends in Dallas and the two were married in her home state of North Carolina on March 31, 2012. Within their cherished ten years of marriage, Adam and Meredith went on to have five children - Clay, Jack, Simms, and twins Evelyn Pope and Morgan Wynn. Adam was known to have a sharp wit and competitive spirit, enjoyed golf and fishing. He was a leader with a larger-than-life personality and brought laughter and joy everywhere he went. He was a rock for his family, an amazing husband and father, and had a strong faith in God.
Adam was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, a very rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer, in June 2020. At that time, the family moved from Denver back to Houston for Adam to receive treatment at MD Anderson Medical Center. After a hard fought battle, he passed away in June 2022, surrounded by his closest family and friends at the beach in Galveston. He was 41 years old. During his final two years, Adam verbalized his wishes for his own family as well as the hope for his legacy to help other families in similar situations.
THE START OF AMFCF
Our original efforts were in support of Adam McCauley and his family when Adam was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer, in 2020. Family, friends, and business colleagues from the Oil & Gas industry rallied around to support Adam’s family during this trying time. In order to honor Adam's legacy, AMFCF was established as a 501(c)3 in 2021 to help other grieving families in need.
